This is Heather Derr-Smith in Iceland for the New Years. Fireworks have been popping and exploding outside my window for the last 72 hours! Icelanders are really into their fireworks. Tonight I’ll go over to the big church (Hallgrimms) for the grand finale of explosions and a cold beer. I’m here in Iceland for a while to learn some Icelandic, read some icelandic poetry, and study a bit of the ecology. I’ll be traveling to several countries in the next few weeks to talk with Embassy and University staff about future workshops with Cuvaj se. Happy New Years!
P.S:
I can’t wait to dive into this beautiful book of poems by Harpa Run Kristjansdottir, EDDA, winner of the 2019 Tomas Gudmunsson Literature Prize.
