2019 was an incredible year for us, with teaching in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Japan, research and study in Czech Republic and Iceland, translation projects with film-makers and poets in Sarajevo and Tuzla, partnership projects in West Des Moines, Bosnia, and Ukraine and grants and stipends awarded to writers who have been effected by trauma or displacement. Many thanks to everyone who donated. 100% of donations go directly to writers in their home country–none of your donations go to travel or administration costs.

We are in our third year as a 501(c)3 and coming up on the time to form a board. Heather Derr-Smith is back in Des Moines and will be working on further training and certification on operating a nonprofit, forming a board, and expanding capacity. This coming year will be an exciting year of growth and change at Cuvaj se. Looking forward to seeing what comes next!
